DINNER WITH MY NEIGHBOR

It all started with my dear neighbor, Jeff, for whom I would sometimes leave a Tupperware meal in front of his apartment door. COVID-19 in 2020 put all of us in a very unusual situation with the single fact that we suddenly were supposed to stay home in order to stay healthy and safe. We all have to eat at some point during the day, so I decided to reach out to friends, family members, and neighbors with some possible cooking ideas, since I love to cook. I felt it was important to share a nice meal as well as an enriching social experience with them.

The idea of Dinner with My Neighbor is that we can still remain social, even during such a difficult time of social distancing.

With the recipes in this cookbook, I made food each day for at least one neighbor or friend, delivered the meal or they picked it up, and then shared it with him, her, or them via a video platform that worked for both of us. With people from a different time zone, it was obviously not possible for me to cook for them, but we had a social lunch or /dinner with each other and shared our thoughts, stories, and worries about the current time.

I would like to invite you to do the same, and I hope to inspire you, at least a little bit, with some new meal ideas during strange times like these of COVID-19,  in order to stay healthy, sane, and, especially, social.
